Loddon Cup 2009

Flooded River Moves Loddon Cup Match.

The recent melting snow and rain over the last week saw the Loddon & Blackwater Rivers burst their banks, flooding much of the surrounding areas. Because of this the Loddon Cup Match, normally fished on the River Loddon was moved to the New Barlows Lake at Tadley. The lakes had been recently stocked between November 2008 and January 2009 so there should be no shortage of fish. Eleven anglers turned out for the match on the cold but dry morning of Sunday 15th February. No frost had showed overnight and things looked promising. Once the pegs were allocated and the draw taken, the match commenced.

Despite the quantity of fish within the lake, not a lot were taking bait over the five hours. The majority of anglers float fished with a couple trying the swimfeeder to entice the bream. Overall the lake fished poorly which are reflected inthe results below.
