Bitter Cold Greets Matchmen For The Loddon Cup.
The Loddon Cup played host to a heavy frost and a very cold morning as the 10 anglers readied themselves for the draw in the parish hall car park at 8.00am. Beat Two on the River Loddon was to play host this year and had been pegged on the warm sunny afternoon the day before. This would be a fair walk to the swims after the draw and at least the frost had made the ground firm under foot, apart from the deep hoof prints left by the cows, which nade the walk very uneven. Lets hope the river would produce for the anglers.
After what seemed a real hike down to beat two, every one took their places at the required pegs, set up and awaited the whistle to start.
Over the five hours, this narrow stretch of the Loddon produced a few reasonable sized fish, but again it was noticed there seemed to be an absence of small fish. Well done to Shane for winning the match with three chub and lets not forget the minnow. Pictured right, are the two bigger chub of his catch at 4lb & 3lb 14oz. The full results are listed below.
