Swallowfield Show 2008 Update

Swallowfield Show 2008 Update

With the bank holiday weekend and the Swallowfield Show now over for another year, the following week or so should tell whether the clubs efforts and presence there have paid off. Sunday morning didnt start off too promising with light drizzle untill about eleven, which appeared to put people off a little, but with the weather changing to warm sunshine within the space of half an hour or so, it made for a better afternoon, bringing in more of the public. Monday proved to be the busiest of the two days with a lot of visitors to the stand. The weather was mild but overcast for most of the day but remained dry and not putting people off.

Of those people who visited us, two were or had been involved in some form of restoration work to lakes, which proved to be of interest to the club with regards the Decoy Pond.

Once again, many thanks to Kevin Roberts from Tadley Angling, who provided us with some tackle to display for potential new anglers. We hope that those people who took the business cards pay him a visit for some good advice and to put some business his way.

Over the two days more than 40 application forms were handed out with one adult and one senior membership being taken on the show days. This at least has covered the cost of the show for the club. Many thanks to Roger, Doug, Martyn, Derek, Dave and Russ for setting up and manning the stand over the two days, to Brian for delivering and collecting the marquee and to Mark Ashley for the loan of the marquee.
