Swallowfield Show 2009

Swallowfield Show 2009

The late August Bank holiday weekend once again played host to the annual Swallowfield Show. This was the third year that the club took part in the event to promote the club and potentially recruit some new members along the way.

The stand was set up over Saturday and a big thank you to Mark Ashley for the use of his marquee once again. The usual display board featured the fish catches from the months since the last show into the current year as well as the work that has gone on with the decoy pond. The cloudy start to Sunday saw a gradual increase in visitors towards the afternoon with plenty of interest in the club and the usual, " I never new Swallowfield had a fishing club". Two new members joined the club on the Sunday along with one of last years members who came along to renew their subscription. Monday saw more visitors overall with help from the glorious sunshine in the afternoon, making the marquee somewhat warm inside but not off putting in any way to those who ventured in. Two new members joined the club on the Monday making the overall uptake at he show, the best to date. Over 40 adult membership forms were handed out along with senior and colt applications, the next week or so will show any uptake from these. The club would like to thank Kevin Roberts from Tadley Angling for once again loaning some tackle for display purposes and who's business cards were given out to those wanting to purchase tackle in the near future.

A big thank you to all of those members who gave their time to man the stand over the two days and help to promote the club and its waters, and finally to all of the public who took the time to come in and chat with us.
