Crayfish Sightings

Request for Crayfish Information On Club Waters.

The club has recently been contacted via the Environment Agency with regard to the distribution of Crayfish, both native and american signal, within the river Loddon and its tributaries. The original email is below. For those of you who regularly fish the club waters, it will be yourselves who have the experiences of these crustations during yours trips to the rivers. If you would like to help by offering what information on sightings or catches of crayfish, then please would you get in touch with one of the committee members by email or phone from the contacts page, via the topic on the forum here :Request For Crayfish Information, or directly to the person listed below.

Hello all
A colleague of mine is carrying out a project looking at chalk stream invertebrates and one of the focuses of the project is looking at the distribution of crayfish, both native and american signal, in our rivers. There are good historic records of native crayfish across the Loddon but also some records of signals.
If any of you have had recent sighting of crayfish (native or signal) on the Loddon or any of it's tributaries then we would be very keen to hear of them, if you could please email me with when and where the sighting was (a grid ref would be useful if possible) and which species of crayfish it was I would be very grateful.
Thank you,
Amanda
