Swallowfield Show 2010

Swallowfield Show 2010

The 126th annual Swallowfield Show held over the August Bank holiday weekend, once again allowed the fishing club to promote itself and the sport to the visiting public. This year, along with the usual pictures of fish caught from the rivers and the work to the Decoy Pond, extra help in the form of two large aquariums and fish supplied by Martin Moore of Moore & Moore Carp.

Both tanks contained coarse fish that could be caught from pretty much any UK river from Rudd, Roach, Bream, Carp, Pike, Perch, Tench and  Crucian Carp along with a Brown Trout, Ruffe, Bull Heads and some American Signal Crayfish which provided an extra attraction for pretty much everyone.

Sunday started bright which continued untils around 2pm when a sharp shower dampened things down somewhat, sending everyone running for shelter, although a small but steady stream of visitors continued to call in. Monday was brighter and warmer all day and generally busier all round. Interest in membership seemed very positive with around five or six memberships being taken out on show days and the remainder of the forms being taken away. Some of the existing club members visiting the show called in for a chat including some that had joined at the show last year. Many thanks for your support.

The clubs deepest thanks go out to Dominic Martyn From The Environment Agency and the Loddon Fisheries & Conservation Consultative and Martin Moore of Moore & Moore Carp and the Loddon Fisheries & Conservation Consultative for their valuable time and effort over the two days passing on information about the rivers and fish to all who visited.
