Barbel and Crucian Stocking 2017

SFC Recieve Barbel and Crucians from EA Calverton Fish Farm.

 

The 7th December saw the arrival of Barbel and Crucians from the Environment Agency's Fish Farm at Calverton near Nottingham. The supply of fish had been arranged by Ade Bicknell, EA Fisheries Officer for the Loddon and Wey Catchments. The barbel totalling 400 and the 200 crucians wre delivered by the EA's purpose fitted vehicle ready for stocking into the appropriate locations within the catchment. 100 of the 18month old fish were placed into the Loddon at Swallowfield, a further 100 at Wolsey Cottage on the Blackwater following the recent Rivers Week habitat improvements, 100 on the Loddon at Stanford End and the remaining 100 in the Loddon at Dinton Pastures. The 200 Crucians went into the Decoy pond within Swallowfield Park and were bread from a strain of fish originally from Norfolk. Pictures are below
